erikson_350_300_c1_c__1 At Dermatology Affiliates we are lucky to have a large staff made up of more than 50 thoughtful, fun,and interesting people. Our new blog feature, “What’s in your beauty bag?” will highlight one staff member and her beauty bag. These blogs reflect the individual experience and/or opinion of the staffer and are not intended to speak for the company as a whole or our individual doctors. Everyone’s skin is different and this series hopes to highlight that filling your beauty bag is a personal and unique experience. Enjoy!
Name: Corinne Erickson, MD
Position: Dermatologist
Skin type: I have very sensitive skin and dry out very easily. However, I also have an oily T-Zone so finding a good balance is a challenge.
Biggest Skin Problem: Maintaining a strong anti-aging (anti-wrinkle and anti-brown spot) regimen without causing major facial flaking/peeling. While I sometimes want a great peel, I don’t necessarily want to be inducing a peel with my everyday skin care regimen.
Products:
AM – I wash every morning with Skin Medica daily facial cleanser (not pictured). It is not over-drying and my skin feels refreshed and clean afterward. Next, I apply Lytera to my face to lighten the brown spots. This can be drying, so I will sometimes apply a thin layer of NeoCutis BioCreme Riche on top, and Skin Medica’s TNS eye repair around the eye area (not pictured). I always finish with Revision Intellishade Matte SPF 45 tinted moisturizer. A little dash of powder and mascara, and I’m out the door!

Procedures:
For skin texture and tone, I love chemical peels. I had several done before my wedding last September, and my skin literally glowed. I can’t wait for my next round of peels!
For wrinkle prevention, I have been a botox fan since residency. I am a believer in preventative botox, and I can definitely say that I have not been developing fine lines and wrinkles on my forehead, between my brows, or my crows feet areas as a result of consistent botox treatments.
Get your priorities straight. Make a wish list for your skin, then try and put them in order of importance. Before my wedding, my #1 goal was to clear up sun damage on my chest from years of tennis. I had a permanent scoop neck chest “tan” that tended to turn bright red in the sun or whenever I was nervous. Then bring in the list to discuss with your Dermatologist or aesthetician so that we can help create a perfect plan for correction, prevention, and maintenance.
