The Art and Science of Beautiful Skin.
Intense Pulsed Light has been an extremely popular treatment for sun damage and dyschromia for over 20 years. Rather than a laser which is one wavelength, IPL is successful because it combines a range of wavelengths enabling the treatment of multicolored spots from light to dark brown and red skin and vessels in the same session. The light goes through the skin and treats the causes of the spots while leaving the skin intact. Lumecca combines the latest technology and advanced cooling to enable Lumecca to give the strongest treatment available today with minimum discomfort.
Multiple Lumecca treatments may be necessary to eliminate most spots and discoloration but typically significant improvement may be seen after one or two treatments three to four weeks apart. It is essential that the treatment is on skin which has no tan or self-tanner so we typically do not do the treatment from April to September.
The treatment takes about an hour and immediately after treatment, make up may be applied because the skin is intact. Typically, the treated area will be red for an hour or two. Over the next week, the brown spots will get darker and break up in the skin, looking like pepper. There may be some bruising which can be covered with concealer. Vessels and redness fade slowly over 3 to 4 weeks.
With diligent sun protection, the results last. It is like a restart button for your sun damaged skin. Face and neck are most commonly treated, with chest, arms and hands also eligible for Lumecca. Legs do not respond well to this treatment.
