Timing Your Cosmetic Procedures!

forneylaser_350_300_c1_c__1 Some of us are planners and others of us simply tackle the day ahead. Either way it helps to when know which cosmetic and aesthetic procedures have less “downtime” and which ones have more “downtime.” During May, June, July, and August we lessen our workload in favor of school graduations, weddings, family reunions, beach trips, and more. During this time of connecting with friends and family, we might also find time for some cosmetic and aesthetic work that will help us put our best face forward!

If your event is 1-5 days away:

During this time frame it is important not to do any procedures or make any changes that will inflame your skin. Additionally, overnight changes might be best impacted by drinking lots of water and getting 8-10 hours of sleep the night before your event. However, our amazing aestheticians can create a unique facial based on your skin type. They can determine if your skin would benefit from some extreme hydration, light exfoliation, mild extractions, or all of the above. They can also recommend products that will enhance the effects of the facial.
Your skin may benefit from the extra hydration of our Neocutis Bio-Cream Riche. The area around your eyes might see subtle, but immediate, impact from the caffeine in our Smart Eye Repair. With our aestheticians’ expertise, you can subtly enhance your natural glow for your upcoming event. You may also take this opportunity to start a series of laser hair removal. Summer is a time when we bare more skin and might want to see less unwanted hairs and spend less time shaving.

If your event is 5-10 days away:

Many of the recommendations for this time are similar to the above. You still don’t have tons of time to let your skin recover, nor is there enough time for a series of chemical peels to show its complete effects. However, you do have more time to heal from bruising that might appear due to the injection of filler, which is definitely an overnight booster! There are a number of places that filler can help plump up your face and enhance your rested appearance. Juvederm and Restylane soften the parenthesis around your mouth and plump up your lips. This area dramatically impacts the appearance of your smile, which will be captured in the pictures at these events!
The new kid on the block, Voluma, is injected into your cheeks and restores the “apple-cheeked” effect that disappears as we age and lose the fat stores in our face. Plumping up this area of the face restores the volume there, and pulls up the wrinkles around the jowls and the mouth. When the volume is restored in the cheeks the skin returns to its original resting place. Of course, our highly trained physicians do these procedures, and they will use their expertise to determine if you are a good candidate for fillers.

If your event is 2 weeks away:

This time frame allows for more healing for your skin, and therefore adds more aggressive options. If pigmentation or sun damage is driving you nuts when you look in the mirror, you might consider a chemical peel, IPL, or Fraxel. These procedures encourage your skin to turnover and use your immune system to naturally encourage your body to get rid of the unwanted brown spots on your face. These do require 2 weeks to recover from either the skin peeling or the coffee grounding effect of the procedure.
Again, this time frame also allows for filler and should give you enough time to see results from Botox. The immobilization from Botox may take up to 2 weeks to see, but far many times it is quicker.

If your event is 2 months away:

With this much time to prepare you can really see some changes!! In addition, to addressing brown spots, using filler, and Botox; you can also address some body contouring issues! We have a number of body contouring devices that can reduce fat in various places. Most of these non-invasive options require two months for the body to naturally dispose of the fat cells killed during the procedure itself. Read more about CoolSculpting, Vanquish, and SmartLipo or call to schedule a consultation.
Our lasers procedures are preformed by our wonderful Physician Assistants and they, with the help of our physicians can help you decide the best course of action for your body and your goals! We look forward to seeing you!
