At Dermatology Affiliates, board-certified dermatologists use Kybella™ on patients in Atlanta and Marietta, GA including Buckhead, East Cobb, and Midtown, to restore the appearance of the skin around the chin and neck.
What is Kybella™?
Kybella™ is a form of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that absorbs fat. When injected into the targeted areas, Kybella™ injections destroy fat cells to reveal a tighter, more contoured appearance. It is most often used around the chin and neck to get rid of the double chin look. Kybella™ attacks excess lipid cells in the chin area by imitating deoxycholic acid (DA), a substance that the human body creates to aid in its fat absorption. This quick procedure is a healthier, non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Before the FDA approved the commercial use of Kybella™ it was tested in two United States medical studies that involved more than 1,000 participants. At least 80 percent of the subjects reported a visible decrease in the plumpness under their chins.
Why Choose Kybella™?
More than three-quarters of people polled revealed that having a double chin lowers their self-esteem. In addition, neck and chin fat typically only piles on as people get older, and the excess is often difficult to eradicate even with an appropriate amount of exercise and a properly nutritious diet. For those who prefer a procedure that is less invasive than liposuction and requires no recovery time, Kybella™ provides a faster and easier solution for reducing unwanted fat while generating a healthier and more youthful appearance.
What Should I Expect with Kybella™?
During a 20-minute appointment, the targeted areas are marked out and the Kybella™ is injected into the skin in up to 30 injection sites, depending on the extent of the treatment area, to obtain the best results. Additionally, the process takes about two or three visits scheduled one month apart to achieve the desired results.
Can Kybella™ Melt Fat from Other Parts of the Body?
At this time, Kybella™ is approved solely to eliminate unwanted chin fat, and trained professionals do not foresee it being available to diminish dimpled thighs, flabby midsections, or jiggly arms. Some evidence exists that Kybella™ might be useful in removing small fat deposits such as under-eye bags or lipomas, benign tumors comprised of adipose tissue, although using the substance to combat either issue may pose severe risks. Further research must take place before a determination is made about the suitability of Kybella™ in such areas.
How Much Does Kybella™ Cost?
The cost of Kybella™ varies and depends on the area to be treated as well as the extent of that area. During a consultation, we discuss the procedure as well as the costs of Kybella™. Because it is considered an elective, or cosmetic procedure, health insurance plans typically do not cover any of the cost. The board-certified dermatologists at Dermatology Affiliates offer Kybella™ and other cosmetic treatments to people living in the Buckhead, Midtown, and East Cobb areas as well as the surrounding areas around Atlanta and Marietta, GA.
