Theralight
At Dermatology Affiliates we take an aggressive and comprehensive approach to treating psoriasis and vitiligo. Theralight is one of the newest technologies available for psoriasis and vitiligo. It is available in Buckhead.
Similar to a laser, it is a single wavelength of narrowband UVB light which is pulsed directly on skin lesions by a nurse. This enables us to get the therapeutic 311 nm UVB light waves directly on the affected skin without exposing normal skin to unnecessary UVB and assuring that all skin gets a full dose of light. This increases the safety and effectiveness of phototherapy for limited skin disease.
It requires three visits a week to reverse the disease process and may take several weeks to months to clear the skin. Once clear, we slowly reduce the number of treatments per week to try to give a lasting remission.
