SmartLipo
Smartlipo is a procedure at Dermatology Affiliates’ Midtown office. Through small 2 or 3 mm incisions, a laser and suction device is inserted to melt fat and suction it out of the body. This minimally invasive procedure is done under local anesthesia and has little down time. Often patients can be back at work in a day or two.
Areas that can be treated include the neck, upper arms, knees, thighs, the upper and lower stomach, flanks and love handles.
Smartlipo should never be substituted for weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. The ideal candidates for this procedure are within 20 pounds of their ideal weight. It is not recommended for patients looking to eliminate a large amount of fat.
After the procedure, patients wear a compression garment for an entire week, then a minimum of twelve hours a day over the following week. Bruising usually lasts about a week to 10 days.
