What is BOTOX® and how does it improve the look of skin?
BOTOX® is an FDA-approved, prescription drug based on botulinum toxin. It has been used by 11 million women and men in the United States since federal approval for cosmetic usage in 2002.
BOTOX® works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces the muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form under the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
How long do BOTOX® injections last?
For the best results from BOTOX®, it is recommended that you have treatments every 3 to 4 months. However, the first treatment may only last 2-3 months because your muscles fight paralyzing a common facial expression. Without continuing treatment your skin will revert to how it looked before treatment.
