Biography
A native of Albany, Georgia, Dr. Burger’s professional life was going in a different direction before she found her calling as a dermatologist.
While she was an undergraduate she received her degree in Physics, Astronomy and Classical Studies. She worked as a high school Latin teacher before she pursued her medical degree. And before she focused on dermatology she did an internship in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Emory University Hospital.
But Dr. Burger’s true passion came in dermatology, where she works closely with patients to keep their skin healthy and beautiful.
“I like seeing kids and adults, and I love the visual aspect of my job,” Dr. Burger says.
Dr. Burger first met Dr. Forney, founder of Dermatology Affiliates, on an elevator at a dermatology conference in San Francisco. Working at Dermatology Affiliates since 2005 has allowed Dr. Burger to treat many people for different issues and at different stages of their lives. It’s this variety that makes her work enjoyable.
“I love seeing patients across all ages and variety of skin diseases,” she says. “I really enjoy seeing multiple generations of a family.”
To get the most out of your time with Dr. Burger, she suggests that you know and tell her all the medications you are taking, and “be open with communication.”
Dr. Burger is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association and the Atlanta Dermatological Association.
